UP CENTER BOOKS
Up Center Books is The Up Center’s work readiness training and transitional jobs program for adults with barriers to employment, including past incarceration, low education attainment, substance abuse recovery, and former homelessness. At our training facility, we teach the skills involved in selling donated books and media on the Internet via online marketplaces including eBay, Amazon and Alibris. Trainees work for up to four months and develop marketable skills such as organization, data entry, and customer service. Trainees also learn to get to work on time, communicate effectively, and demonstrate dedication to their jobs.

The Up Center’s Face Forward Juvenile Diversion is a workforce readiness program for at-risk youth ages 16-24 who reside in Norfolk and face continuing involvement with the Juvenile Justice System. The 14-week program provides mentoring, on-the-job training, continuing education, and service learning. Trainees work to develop skills that promote healthy relationships and economic stability.
