[Norfolk, Virginia] – [Aug 6, 2025] – The Up Center’s 19th Street location received a vibrant refresh this week thanks to a generous team of volunteers from KPMG, who dedicated their time and talent to improving the space where so many in our community come for support and healing.
As part of KPMG’s national Community Impact Day, over a dozen employees—including Trey Oglesby, Partner, Healthcare, and Justynne Friend, Audit Senior Manager, Healthcare and incoming member of The Up Center’s Board of Directors—joined forces with The Up Center team to revitalize the campus grounds and lobby area.
With coordination, tools, and support provided by The Up Center team, the crew tackled a wide range of improvements:
- Repainting parking lot lines and handicap signage
- Trimming back trees and clearing overgrown landscaping
- Removing weeds, leaves, and trash from grassy and mulched areas
- Washing exterior and interior windows
- Cleaning and refreshing the front entrance and lobby area
“This building is the heart of our services in Norfolk, and the KPMG team truly helped it shine,” said a staff member at The Up Center. “Their efforts make our office more welcoming for every client who walks through our doors.”
Following the event, Justynne Friend shared:
“Successful day!! Thank you for allowing us to serve The Up Center by helping to ‘spruce up’ the office as part of our national Community Impact Day. We were honored to contribute and look forward to working with you all on future service events.”
The Up Center is proud to partner with corporate volunteers who share a commitment to community building and impact. The improvements made will serve as a daily reminder to clients and staff alike that they are supported by a community that cares.
