Mentors Change the World, One Relationship at a Time

Faye was manning the front desk at our Portsmouth office in February 2011 when Willie Moody arrived for his interview with Team Up Mentoring. Faye knew he was a potential match for her 9-year-old grandson, Shaun, who had been on the waiting list for a while. Faye liked Willie right away and it was a great match right from the start. Now, seven years later, Shaun has graduated from Granby High School and will be attending Wheeling University in West Virginia this fall on a track scholarship. The official match with Team Up is ending, but the friendship is forever.

“He took me and my grandmother to West Virginia to visit the college that I’m going to — which is a nine-hour drive there and back — and if I would have asked anybody else, nobody would do that. But he did. And that’s what I’m thankful for, because, without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” – Shaun
