Norfolk, VA – The Up Center is proud to announce its inclusion on the Top Workplaces 2024 list, a recognition that honors the organization’s commitment to creating a positive and supportive work environment. The award, presented by Inside Business and Virginia Media, is based on employee feedback gathered through surveys administered by independent research agencies.
The Top Workplaces award is open to any employer with 35 or more employees in Hampton Roads, and eligibility is determined by survey participation. Employers must achieve a response rate of at least 35% from their workforce, and for organizations with fewer than 85 employees, at least 30 employees must respond. This rigorous standard ensures that only those organizations with genuinely engaged employees earn this prestigious designation.

As a longstanding United Way partner organization, The Up Center operates five locations across South Hampton Roads, impacting over 10,000 people annually through its evidence-based services and programs. In 2024, The Up Center was named United Way’s Agency of the Year for South Hampton Roads.
The Top Workplaces program is free to enter, with no obligation to purchase any products or services. In 2024, 1,123 organizations were invited to survey their employees, and 70 agreed to participate. Based on the feedback collected, 54 organizations have earned recognition as Hampton Roads Top Workplaces.
