ourtney, a single mother with a 3-year old daughter, enrolled in The Up Center’s Healthy Families Early Childhood Home Visiting program. Since entering the program last October, Courtney has moved from her home in public housing to a subsidized apartment and began working for janitorial companies and catering companies. Working with her Family Support Specialist, Courtney has learned about the racial disparities in of wealth in our country and has developed her own strategies to begin building generational wealth.
Courtney is a budding entrepreneur and has started side jobs in addition to her regular employment. Her Family Support Specialist assisted with getting her flyers ready and printed and Courtney received a business license and made her side job official. Her business is named for her daughter, who inspired her to build something to be proud of and to leave a legacy that is a foundation for their family.
