FAQs

Who is it for?
  • Renters with disabilities (income generally at or below 80% AMI).
  • Homeowners with disabilities (often elderly) at or below 80% AMI.
  • Veterans or service members with service-connected disabilities (Granting Freedom).
What can it cover?
  • Ramps, wider doorways, grab bars, roll-in showers

  • Lever handles, railings, and other accessibility upgrades recommended for the resident’s use of the home.

How do we help?
  • Screening: We confirm basic eligibility and discuss your needs. (Agents help determine eligibility and submit applications.)

  • Paperwork: We help gather documents and complete the online application.

  • Submit & Review: We submit as your agent; Virginia Housing reviews and notifies us of decisions before work begins.

  • Modifications: Approved work is scheduled with qualified contractors.

What might I need?
  • Photo ID and proof of Virginia address

  • For renters: lease listing the eligible tenant; for homeowners: proof of ownership

  • Income documentation (e.g., recent pay stubs/benefit letters)

  • A brief description of needed modifications (we can help with this)
