What We Offer
Arielle Shipp, Perinatal Mental Health Counselor
Meet Arielle Shipp, a passionate advocate for maternal mental health and one of the dedicated professionals helping expand access to care through The Up Center’s Perinatal Mental Health program.
Arielle shares what drives her work, the importance of supporting mothers during pregnancy and postpartum, and why compassionate, accessible mental health care matters for families in our community.
Perinatal mental health is about more than treatment. It is about ensuring mothers feel seen, supported, and cared for during one of life’s biggest transitions.
Why Perinatal Mental Health Matters
1 in 8 parents in Virginia experiences a perinatal mental health condition. Left untreated, these conditions can impact both parent and child. Nearly one-third of Virginia counties are considered perinatal health deserts, limiting access to care. Through our partnership with It Takes a Village, we’re breaking down barriers and making sure families get the support they need.
