Honoring Military Families: November’s Moment of Recognition and the Impact of The Up Center
Honoring the Heroes Behind the Service
Every November, we recognize the vital role of our military families through Military Family Month while also honoring veterans on Veterans Day. This year, The Up Center is proud to highlight our partnership with the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic as part of our mission to stand with military-connected families.
What is Military Family Month?
Military Family Month is an annual observance held each November to acknowledge the strength, service, and sacrifices of families connected to our armed forces. (National Child Traumatic Stress Network)
These families cope with deployments, frequent moves, and transitions back to civilian life. Their resilience sustains readiness and strengthens communities.
The Importance of Veterans Day
Veterans Day falls on November 11 and is the time when our nation honors all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It began as Armistice Day after World War I and was later expanded to include all veterans. (Seramount)
It is a moment to say thank you, reflect on service, and consider how we can better support those who stepped up for our country.
The Role of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic (Cohen Clinic) is a national network providing mental health and family support services tailored to veterans, active service members, and their loved ones. (Cohen Veterans Network)
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at The Up Center offers accessible, high-quality mental health care for post-9/11 veterans and their families, both in person and via telehealth.
Services include individual therapy, couples and family sessions, children’s counseling, and support groups, all delivered by clinicians with military-connected experience.
Why This Matters
When a service member serves, their spouse, children, parents, and loved ones serve too. The stress of deployment, transition, and separation can leave a lasting impact on families. The Cohen Clinic helps address issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, family relationship challenges, and the unique demands of military life. (Cohen Veterans Network)
By supporting military families, we strengthen the fabric of our community and advance The Up Center’s mission of building stronger families and healthier children.

Why This Matters for Our Community
When military families are supported, the entire community benefits. Strong families lead to stable children, engaged neighborhoods, and resilient citizens. The Up Center and the Cohen Clinic are working together to make that vision a reality.
On Veterans Day, we honor service. During Military Family Month, we honor the families. Together, we ensure neither service nor sacrifice goes unnoticed.
Thank you to every service member, spouse, parent, child, and caregiver. Your commitment matters, and so does your well-being.
