Substance Use Counseling

Take the First Step Toward Better Mental Health

At The Up Center, we know recovery is possible—and we’re here to help you take the next step. Our substance use counseling provides a safe, supportive place to talk openly and work toward lasting change. We serve children, teens, adults, and families facing challenges such as strained relationships, trauma, chronic relapse, PTSD, legal issues, or health concerns.

FAQs

Who can receive substance use services at The Up Center?

We serve youth, adults, and families impacted by substance use. Services are tailored to individual needs and can be combined with other supports.

What types of substance use do you address?

We provide treatment for alcohol, prescription drug misuse, and other substances, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of recovery.

What if I’m not ready to stop using substances completely?

That’s okay. We use a harm-reduction approach to meet you where you are, whether that means reducing use, exploring recovery, increasing healthy living supports, or maintaining sobriety.

Do you offer group therapy for substance use?

Yes. Group settings allow clients to share experiences, learn from peers, and build a network of support.

How do you support families affected by substance use?

We offer education, counseling, and connection to resources so family members can understand substance use, set healthy boundaries, and take care of themselves.

Outpatient Clinical Director

As Outpatient Clinical Director, I oversee the administrative and clinical operations of our outpatient counseling programs at The Up Center. I began my journey here as an Intensive In-Home clinician before moving into leadership roles, where I now focus on ensuring quality services and supporting our dedicated clinical staff. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology, a Master’s degree in Community Counseling, and professional licenses as an LPC and CSOTP.

I’m motivated by the opportunity to guide and mentor clinicians as they grow in their careers while helping clients achieve their goals. I’m especially proud of fostering a team culture where compassion and professional growth go hand in hand. Outside of work, I recently discovered my love for cooking—and I’m having fun learning new recipes!

Substance Use Program Manager

I oversee the provision of outpatient substance use services, ensuring clients receive high-quality, evidence-based care. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Work, with extensive clinical leadership experience.
I am motivated by the opportunity to connect with people and help them access the support they need for recovery. Fun fact: I’m a foster parent and a proud mom to both foster and biological children.

Outpatient Clinician

I serve as an outpatient clinician providing mental health and substance use counseling for individuals and families. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience supporting people through trauma-informed care.
I value working in a supportive environment where we can create meaningful change for clients. Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer, coaching, and engaging in community activities.

Registered Peer Recovery Specialist

I help people new to recovery navigate resources, offering peer support and encouragement as they take steps toward wellness. I bring personal experience in recovery and a passion for connecting individuals with the support they need.
I am motivated by seeing the progress and resilience in the people I serve and helping spread awareness about mental health and recovery. Outside of work, I love traveling and attending live concerts whenever I can.

Registered Peer Recovery Specialist

As a recovery specialist, I empower and encourage individuals seeking recovery, sharing resources and peer support to help them succeed. I am a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist with lived experience and training in recovery support services.
I consider it an honor to share my experiences with others and see them find strength in their own recovery journeys. Fun fact: I have been a professional jazz bass player for many years!

I am an Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) clinician, providing evidence-based counseling and support for youth and families affected by substance use. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree, am a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A/C), and am pursuing certification as a CSAC.
I’m motivated by the opportunity to help youth and families find hope and healing through counseling. Outside of work, I have a strong connection to the outdoors and enjoy spending time in nature.

I serve as a clinician with the New Visions program, providing counseling and support for youth and families impacted by substance use. My work focuses on helping clients build healthier futures through evidence-based interventions and support.
I’m motivated by seeing the positive impact, even in small moments, as individuals and families move toward recovery and stability. In my free time, I’m building a home library to enjoy my love of reading.

Family Support Partner, New Visions Department

I serve as a Family Support Partner, bringing both professional training and lived experience to support families impacted by substance use and mental health challenges. With over 13 years in recovery, I am a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (R-CPRS) and Integrated Forensic Peer Recovery Specialist (IFPRS), as well as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Assistant. I hold an Associate’s degree in Human Services from Virginia Peninsula College and will complete my Bachelor’s in Human Services with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling at Southern New Hampshire University in May 2026.
I’m passionate about supporting families, breaking stigma, and helping people find hope and healing through recovery and mental health support.
